Changcai Cui 
China Jiliang University, China

 

 

Biography:
Dr. Changcai Cui is the professor of College of Metrology Measurement and Instrument of China Jiliang University (CJLU) from February, 2024 after more than twenty years of work in Huaqiao University (HQU). In 2003, she graduated with a PhD in Instrument Science and Technology from Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) and joined HQU. She was a post-doctor in Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) from 2005 to 2009 and she was a visiting scholar to University of Huddersfield (UoH) of the UK from 2011 to 2012. In 2010, she was promoted to professor, and in 2011, she was hired as a doctoral supervisor. Her research interests include the integration and application of optical testing systems, geometrical and optical features measurement and characterization of semiconductor wafer, surface topography measurement and characterization of ultra-hard abrasive tools, and the principles and applications of modern intelligent optimization algorithms. She has presided over or participated in more than 20 scientific research projects and published over 170 academic papers. She has also obtained more than 60 invention patents and 10 software copyrights. She has supervised about 50 doctoral and master's students. She was selected for the Ministry of Education's New Century Excellent Talents Support Program in 2010 and was recognized as a key talent in Xiamen and a high-level talent in Quanzhou in the same year. In 2017, she was selected as one of the first batch of outstanding innovation and entrepreneurship mentors in the national talent pool, and in 2020, she was recognized as a second-level talent introduced to Fujian Province. She was awarded the 2022 China Industry-University-Research Cooperation Innovation and Promotion Award (Individual).

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chulmin Joo 
Yonsei University, Republic of Korea

 

 

Biography:
Dr. Chulmin Joo is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Yonsei University, Seoul, Republic of Korea. He obtained S.M. and Ph.D. degrees in mechanical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA, in 2003 and 2008, respectively. Prior to joining Yonsei University, he worked as a lead engineer at GE Global Research, USA, involving and leading research programs for the development of various optical imaging and sensing devices. His primary research interests lie in the development and application of novel optical instrumentation and computational imaging technologies to address challenges and applications in diverse fields such as biology, medicine, optical metrology, and beyond. He strives to integrate fundamental understanding of optical imaging and computational technologies with the insights and needs from clinicians, biologists, and industry. He is a senior member of Optica (formerly Optical Society America) and has been a program committee member of Optica Imaging Systems and Applications since 2017. He served as the program and general chairs of Optica Imaging Systems and Applications (2020, 2021), and is serving as an Associate Editor of Adv. Imaging and Current Optics and Photonics. He is a member of Academic Editorial Board of PLoS One.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Hung-Fei Kuo 
Taiwan University of Science and Technology, China

 

 

 

Biography:

Prof. Kuo received the Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA in 2004. From 2005 to 2006, he served as an optical department manager at GCC, Taiwan. From 2007 to 2009, he was an application development engineer at ACE in ASML. Since 2010, he joined the faculty of the Graduate Institute of Automation and Control, Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Taipei, China. From 2019 to 2023, he was the chair of Graduate Institute of Automation and Control and vice dean in College of Engineering. His research interests include the development of next generation lithography techniques, optical metrology and optical system integrations.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Xiaojun Liu 
Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China

 

 

Biography:
Professor and doctoral supervisor in School of Mechanical Engineering, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. In 1999, 2000 and 2005, he was a visiting researcher at Chung Yuan University in Taiwan, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and the Institute of Analytical Instruments in Russia, respectively. He is also the secretary-general of the National Association of Interchangeability and Measurement Technology in Universities, a member of the Measuring Instrument Committee of the Chinese Metrology and Testing Society, and a member of the Optical Testing Branch of the Chinese Optical Engineering Society. In the past five years, he has presided over projects including the general project of the National Fund, the basic challenge project of national defense science and industry, the Sino-British international cooperation project, the national major instrument development project, etc., won 1 first prize of technological invention of the China Instrument and Control Society, published more than 100 papers, more than 20 invention patents, and 3 software copyrights.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Xiaoli Liu 
Shenzhen University, China

 

 

 

Biography:

Liu Xiaoli received his PhD degree from Tianjin University in 2008. He is now a professor in Shenzhen University. His research interests are structured light 3D measurement, light field 3D imaging, laser Doppler displacement measurement, and computer vision. He has published more than 100 papers, awarded two Second Prizes in the Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, and held more than 50 authorized invention patents.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Yasuhiro Mizutani 
Osaka University, Japan

 

 

Biography:
Prof. Mizutani obtained his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, Japan, in 2008. From 1999 to 2003, he worked as a researcher at Panasonic Corporation. He then served as a research associate in the Department of Mechanical Systems Engineering at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology from 2003 to 2009. In 2009, he joined the University of Tokushima, Japan, as an associate professor. Since 2015, he has been an associate professor at Osaka University. His research focuses on interferometry, polarimetry, 3D surface measurement, optical trapping, 3D lithography, microscopy, imaging, quantum mechanics application and machine learning applications for metrology. He has published over 100 papers in prestigious international journals and conferences. He is an active member of the Japan Society for Precision Engineering (JSPE), the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers (JSME), the Optical Society of Japan, SPIE, and OSA.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ryo Sato 
Tohoku University, Japan

 

 

Biography:
Ryo Sato received the M.S degree and Ph.D degree in the Department of Finemechanics, Tohoku University, Japan, in 2021 and 2023, respectively. He received a research fellowship (DC1) of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science when he is Ph. D candidate. He is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Finemechanics, Tohoku University. One of the main works of his research is about a dual-detection optical probe in confocal microscopy for precision positioning and surface profile. He is first author of a review paper “Signal processing and artificial intelligence for dual dual-detection confocal probe” (Int. J. Prec. Eng. Manuf., 25, pp. 199-233, 2024), which summarized the detector positions of the dual detection methods and categorized signal processing into the difference-type and the ratio-type. In addition, his current work interests include precision nanometrology, optical sensors, and nonlinear optical phenomena and production engineering. In connection with these studies, he also reviewed about “Advanced Sensing and Machine Learning Technologies for Intelligent Measurement in Smart and Precision Manufacturing” in Int. J. Automation Technol., 18(4), pp. 545-580, 2024.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Yuki Shimizu 
Hokkaido University, Japan

 

 

 

Biography:
Yuki Shimizu received his MS in precision engineering from Tohoku University, Japan, in 2002. He spent his career at Hitachi Ltd. from 2002 to 2011 and was involved in research on head-disk interface technology for hard disk drives. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Nagoya University, Japan, in 2009. He had been an associate professor in the Department of Finemechanics, at Tohoku University, Japan. Currently, he is a professor in the Division of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, at Hokkaido University, Japan. His research interest includes precision dimensional metrology and optical metrology. He is a member of the Japan Society for Precision Engineering (JSPE), the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers (JSME, Fellow), and the Japanese Society of Tribologists (JAST).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Shin Usuki 
Shizuoka University, Japan

 

 

 

 

Biography:
Shin Usuki is an associate professor at Research institute of Electronics, Shizuoka University, Japan. He got B.Eng, M.Eng and D.Eng from Department of Precision Engineering, the University of Tokyo, Japan respectively in 2002, 2004 and 2008. He is a member of Academic Societies, International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE), the Japan Society for Precision Engineering (JSPE), and the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers (JSME).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Guanhao Wu 
Tsinghua University, China

 

 

Biography:
Guanhao Wu is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Precision Instrument, Tsinghua University. He received Ph.D degree in optical engineering from Tsinghua University in 2008. He used to be a visiting scholar in National Metrology Institute of Japan (NMIJ) from 2011 to 2012. His research interests include frequency comb, comb-based distance measurement and light detection and ranging (Lidar). In recent years, he has published more than sixty international refereed journal papers, and he is the holder of more than thirty Chinese patents. He won the Special Prize of Chinese Machinery Industry Science and Technology Award in 2020, and won the First Prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of Chinese Society for Measurement in 2021. He is also the winner of Mao Yisheng Beijing youth science and technology award.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ruqiang Yan 
Xi'an Jiaotong University, China

 

 

Biography:
Ruqiang Yan is a Full Professor and Director of International Machinery Center at the School of Mechanical Engineering, Xi’an Jiaotong University, China. He is engaged in research on theoretical methods and engineering applications related to intelligent operation and maintenance of high-end equipment. Dr. Yan is a Fellow of IEEE (2022) and ASME (2019). He is the recipient of several prestigious awards including the Second Prize of National Technological Invention Award in 2023, the First Prize of Technological Invention Award in Shaanxi Province in 2020, the First Prize of Natural Science Award from the Ministry of Education in 2020, and the 2019 IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society Technical Award. He has led the development of one IEEE standard and published over one hundred papers in IEEE and ASME journals, and other publications. Currently, he serves as an IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society Distinguished Lecturer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Zhengbao YANG 
Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, China

 

 

Biography:
Prof. Yang earned his bachelor’s degree from the Harbin Institute of Technology and completed his Ph.D. at the University of Toronto in 2016. He is currently an associate professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, where he also serves as the director of the Smart Transducers and Vibration Laboratory (STVL). Prof. Yang is an IEEE Senior Member and has been recognized as one of the “Top 2% Scientists in the World” by Stanford University. His research interests encompass Smart Materials and Mechatronics, with a particular emphasis on the development of piezoelectric materials, energy harvesters, and wireless sensor systems. Prof. Yang has applied for 24 patents in China and the USA and has authored over 130 academic articles in high-impact journals, including 15 papers in the Nature and Science series over the past five years. Under his leadership, the STVL lab has graduated 11 PhD students, 6 postdoctoral researchers, and more than 30 MSc students, some of whom have received recognition from the China Overseas Talent Scheme or have joined top high-tech companies worldwide. Chao Zuo 
Nanjing University of Science and Technology, China

 

 

 

Biography:

Dr. Chao Zuo is a professor in optical engineering, Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NJUST), China. He leads the Smart Computational Imaging Laboratory (SCILab: www.scilaboratory.com) at the School of Electronic and Optical Engineering, NJUST, and is also the founder and director of the Smart Computational Imaging Research Institute of NJUST. He has long been engaged in the development of novel Computational Optical Imaging and Measurement technologies, with a focus on Phase Measuring Imaging Metrology. He has published > 200 peer-reviewed articles with over 18,000 citations. These researches have been featured on journal cover (including Light, Optica, LPR, PhotoniX, AP, etc.) over 40 times. He currently serves as an Associate Editor of PhotoniX, Optics and Lasers in Engineering, IEEE Transaction on Computational Imaging, Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, and Advanced Devices & Instrumentation. He is a Fellow of SPIE | Optica | IOP, Changjiang Scholar Distinguished Professor (Ministry of Education, China), and listed as a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Nikita D. Zviagin 
D.I.Mendeleyev Institute for Metrology (VNIIM), Russia

 

 

Biography:
Nikita Zviagin has been born in 1984 in Saint-Petersburg, Russia. Has a degree of mechanical engineer of the Saint-Petersburg State Polytechnical University. Started his work in metrology in 2006 as a researcher in the laboratory for theoretical metrology in VNIIM (Saint-Petersburg, Russia). For a long time has been working in the field of metrological software validation, processing of comparison data and legal metrology. Has been the head of legal metrology laboratory of VNIIM.

 

In 2017-2018 has been working at the secondment at the BIPM as an Executive Secretary of the Joint Committee of Regional Metrology Organizations and the Bureau (the JCRB). In 2020 became the head of the International Cooperation Department of VNIIM.

 

Actively participates in the work of COOMET (Euro-Asian Cooperation of National Metrological Institutions). In 2023 became the Chair of the Joint Committee on Measurement Standards (JCMS) of the COOMET.

 

Since 2024 chairs the Working Group on RMO Coordianation of the CIPM Forum on Metrology and Digitaliztion
